Toulouse, 1934. A young painter arrives with little more than an easel — and finds a family, a love and a war that will change his life forever.
Henry Lacroix arrives at Résidence La Prairie with little more than an easel and a few canvases. There, he finds an unexpected family among a mysterious nobleman, a faded stage actress and a concierge who seems to know more than he says. Then Henry meets Madeleine, a young doctor with ties to the residence, and falls into a love that will shape the rest of his life.
Spanning the final years of peace, the horrors of the Second World War and decades of quiet exile, La Prairie Residence is a story of love, found family, and the patient way life sometimes gives back what it once seemed to take away. Originally published in French as Résidence La Prairie.
