A second life, written in ink.
Writing came to Sami late — after a full career, when the time finally arrived to give shape to the questions that had accompanied him across countries and continents. His life journey from Egypt to Brazil to Portugal has profoundly shaped his literary voice and thematic preoccupations.
“His works blend philosophical inquiry with geopolitical fiction, exploring themes of eternity, faith, death and the human condition.”
From À L’Ombre de Minuit to La Prairie Residence, each novel is a meditation on existence itself — a journey through exile and belonging, through the eternal questions that define our humanity.
Themes that travel.
Stories as a way of thinking
Each novel begins with a question about how we live, what we believe and what we leave behind — told with humour, melancholy and a touch of mysticism.
From the abode of snows to a kingdom beyond the throne
Mourad’s characters cross the threshold between the visible world and the eternal, in search of the peace that outlasts fear.
Cairo, Nazareth, the Himalaya, 1930s Toulouse
Places are never a backdrop: they shape every destiny, as they shaped the author’s own life across three continents.
